ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Environmental Policy - H&S/Rev03/2025 

 

1. Policy Statement 

P’Brothers Building Ltd is committed to delivering high-quality internal refurbishment services  while minimising the environmental impact of our operations. We recognise that sustainable  practices are essential to safeguarding the environment, fulfilling legal obligations, and supporting  the communities in which we operate. 

This Environmental Policy outlines our commitment to environmental protection, compliance with  relevant legislation, continual improvement of our environmental performance, and promotion of  sustainable development across our business activities. 

2. Scope of the Policy 

This policy applies to all operations, employees, contractors, and stakeholders engaged with  P’Brothers Building Ltd, including project sites, administrative functions, and supply chain  activities. It covers all internal refurbishment activities, including but not limited to demolition,  redecoration, electrical and plumbing work, plastering, flooring, and installation of fixtures. 

3. Legal & Regulatory Compliance 

We will comply with, and where possible exceed, all applicable environmental legislation, codes  of practice, and guidance, including: 

• Environment Act 2021 

• Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011 

• Control of Pollution Act 1974 

• Clean Air Act 1993 

• Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005 

• ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System 

4. Environmental Objectives & Commitments 

We commit to the following environmental principles: 

4.1 Pollution Prevention & Waste Management 

• Segregate waste on-site to maximise reuse and recycling. 

• Prevent contamination of soil, air, and water through safe handling and storage of  materials. 

• Dispose of waste through licensed carriers in accordance with our Waste Carrier Licence  (CBDU41311).

4.2 Sustainable Use of Resources 

• Source materials locally and sustainably where possible. 

• Select low-VOC paints, adhesives, and other low-impact construction materials. • Reduce packaging waste and promote the use of recyclable and biodegradable materials. 

4.3 Energy & Water Efficiency 

• Minimise energy use on job sites and in offices. 

• Invest in energy-efficient tools, lighting, and machinery. 

• Monitor water usage and adopt efficient practices during construction. 4.4 Sustainable Transport 

• Promote remote communication to reduce unnecessary travel. 

• Encourage use of public transport, carpooling, and cycling. 

• Maintain vehicles to ensure low emissions and fuel efficiency. 

4.5 Environmental Design & Construction Practices 

• Incorporate environmentally responsible design into project planning. 

• Consider lifecycle impacts of materials and systems used. 

• Implement noise, dust, and vibration control measures. 

5. Training & Awareness 

• All employees and subcontractors will receive environmental training during induction and  regular refresher training thereafter. 

• Toolbox talks will include environmental topics such as waste segregation, spill control,  and energy-saving practices. 

• Employees are encouraged to identify and report opportunities for environmental  improvement. 

6. Procurement & Supply Chain Responsibility 

• Work with suppliers and contractors who demonstrate sound environmental practices. • Consider environmental credentials when selecting products, materials, and services. • Promote use of FSC-certified timber, recycled-content products, and low-carbon  materials. 

7. Community & Stakeholder Engagement 

• Make this policy available to clients, suppliers, regulators, and the public upon request. • Engage with local communities to reduce disruption during projects. 

• Support local employment and source materials locally to reduce transport-related  emissions.

8. Monitoring, Evaluation & Continual Improvement 

• Establish measurable environmental objectives and review them annually. • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and reviews of environmental performance. • Record and investigate any environmental incidents and take corrective action where  required. 

• Hold monthly management reviews to evaluate compliance and identify areas for  improvement. 

9. Policy Review 

This policy will be reviewed at least annually, or sooner if there are significant changes in  operations, legislation, or company structure. Revisions will be made in consultation with  management, staff, and relevant stakeholders. 

10. Responsibilities 

Directors and Management will: 

• Ensure environmental policy implementation. 

• Provide resources and training to support environmental performance. • Monitor and review environmental objectives. 

Employees and Contractors must: 

• Follow all environmental procedures and instructions. 

• Minimise environmental impact during their work. 

• Report environmental incidents or near-misses promptly.
